Joe Biden, born Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. on November 20, 1942, is an American politician who served as the 46th President of the United States. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Delaware, where he spent most of his life. Biden had a long and distinguished career in politics before assuming the presidency.

 

After graduating from the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in 1965, Biden attended Syracuse University College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1968. He then practiced law in Delaware before launching his political career.

 

Biden's political journey began in 1970 when he was elected to the New Castle County Council in Delaware. Two years later, in 1972, tragedy struck his life when his wife, Neilia, and daughter, Naomi, were killed in a car accident. Despite this personal tragedy, Biden decided to continue his political aspirations.

 

In 1972, at the age of 29, Biden became the fifth-youngest person ever elected to the United States Senate. He represented Delaware in the Senate for an impressive 36 years, from 1973 to 2009. During his tenure, Biden developed a reputation as a pragmatic and bipartisan legislator. He played a key role in areas such as criminal justice, foreign relations, and judiciary matters.

 

In 2008, Biden was chosen as the running mate for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. The Obama-Biden ticket won the election, and Biden served as the Vice President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. During his vice presidency, Biden focused on a wide range of issues, including economic recovery, healthcare reform, and foreign policy.

 

After leaving office, Biden remained active in public life and maintained his interest in politics. In 2019, he announced his candidacy for the Democratic Party's nomination for President in the 2020 election. Biden emerged as the party's nominee and ran a successful campaign against the incumbent President, Donald Trump. On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States.

 

As President, Biden has prioritized issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, racial equality, and economic recovery. He has proposed ambitious plans and initiatives to address these challenges, including the American Rescue Plan Act and the American Jobs Plan.
